OpenLinkNight: Sparsity

Sparsity

When billowy pillows
give way to sparse stepping stones
every next step
becomes a leap.
And keeping time
tight in a bottle?
Impossible
as stretching clouds
across a stubborn sky.

  4. Very nice! Ah, sometimes I DO wish we could keep time in a bottle so we could contain it a bit longer. Enjoyed your language in this poem.

  6. There's something of the harsh reality of the alarm clock here, from those billowy pillows to the real clouds, out of reach, the desire for a an easy walk, perhaps, rather than the rude stumble into day... Forgive me for stumbling through your poem, but these are the impressions it gives me.

Thank you for your kind words at my place.

  10. Reminds me of when my daugher was growing up how she wished she could stay young all her life. But no it is impossible to keep time closed up in a bottle. Excellent. http://gatelesspassage.com/2013/02/02/reflections/

  12. A V well measured piece Lori.

    I Love this image

    stretching clouds
    across a stubborn sky

    if i tried it
    it would indeed be impossible

but something tells me, that if you wanted to,
you could do it without so much as a wisp break! :)

  14. Beautifully sparse, a leap into rich meaning, very tight timing and nothing is impossible for you in this poem!
